Walnut Creek Altoona’s kids’ ministry is designed to partner with parents to help teach children the Bible and how it applies to their daily lives.

Open to kids up through 2 years old, our nursery is stocked with toys for kids to play with and books to read to them. In the nursery, we maintain a ratio of at least 1 volunteer to 5 kids. Our volunteers are well-trained regular attenders of Walnut Creek who have passed a background check.
We offer kid’s classes during the Sunday morning service for children ages 3 through 1st grade. Each classroom is led by a teacher and one or two assistant teachers who work together to teach kids the Bible through a curriculum called The Gospel Project, created by Lifeway.

Joining us for the first time? Here’s what you can expect when participating in kids ministry at Walnut Creek Altoona.
Our goal is to provide a fun, safe environment in an age appropriate classroom. We currently offer nursery (ages infant-2 years), Pre-k (ages 3-4) and a younger Class (Kindergarten - 1st grade).
Stop at the check in center located in the basement where our kids classrooms are located. There, we will gather your information and any special instructions you may have for your children.
You can drop off your child in the downstairs of the church, where a volunteer will be standing by the check-in station to help and answer any questions. Our check-in system will print a name tag sticker for your child and you’ll receive a unique security label that you’ll need to pick up your child after the service has concluded.
All of our volunteers are background checked, trained and provided with the best teaching possible, all to support a safe environment for your child.
For the Pre-K and Younger classrooms we use The Gospel Project. Each week we dive deep into God's redemptive story to save His people from their sins through His Son, Jesus Christ. We offer a fun, safe environment for your kids to learn about the bible from Genesis to Revelations through games, crafts and biblical lessons.
To ensure the health of every child, we ask that you keep your child with you during the service if you suspect them to have a serious communicable illness or disease.
A few things to consider:
Our kids really are the future church. If the Spirit has gifted you in a way that equips you for service in kids’ ministry, we encourage you to share your gifts with the church by serving in kids’ classes. There are many opportunities outside of teaching classes, each working together to make church a positive and enjoyable experience for our kids.
